That was an obituary. Now, if I may be allowed to speak in a personal perspective.
I was from a seminar in Pangasinan when I met this dog. She was just almost three months old. I arrived home, to find out that there’s a dog in a large cage. She was eager to go out.
Days later, our family enjoyed Lougee’s company. She was cute and cuddly. I enjoyed [although at times, I admit it is excruciating] our walks along the neighborhood. My parents would also play with her.
When I went to Los Baños, I remembered myself saying, “Paano na yan, madalang na kaming magkikita ni Ugee [her nickname].” Starting that first semester, I only see her during semestral breaks. I tried to catch up with her during summertime, when I decided to take a break and not take summer classes.
As I type this, I just got home, and received that heartbreaking news: that our dog has died. My mother told the chronology of events to our pet’s death. Our dog’s situation was so pitiful, I was trying to stop myself from crying.
I am teary-eyed as I type this entry. Lougee indeed has been a part of our family. She gave life to us, making us realize that sometimes, even small acts of our friend animals may brighten our day.
But now, she is gone.
We actually have another dog named Coco. He is quite a lot younger than Lougee [thus, he is a hyper-energetic dog]. He used to play with Lougee in the backyard.
But now, he has no playmate anymore.
To our dog Lougee, thank you for being a part of my life, of our lives. I hope you enjoy in the paradise of the Lord where you’re in now.
